Water bodies

Pinhole camera, bamboo, mud, wood and paper

When bathers are informants.

Is bathing another form of laborious work?

In every village, there is a designated area where people go to carry out this task, some
walking only a few steps, others covering meters, and others kilometers. The pond serves as an open space where anyone can go,
yet it's primarily populated by individuals from specific castes and occupations

The process of removing dust, mud, chemicals, sweat, and dead skin is indeed a laborious task, necessitating rubbing, scratching, and exfoliating using fabric, stones, luffas, and khapris (pieces of broken pottery). How does this repetitive action affect the body and skin? Does the skin become thinner? Do the bones and flexibility of the hands and legs begin to adapt uniquely to the working environment?

this is an ongoing expiriment around pon as site.

The pond serves as more than just a body of water; it is a laboratory, a meeting space, and a
receptacle for garbage and chemical runoff. To better observe and magnify the interactions between
people and their environment, I have constructed a dark house equipped with a pinhole camera.
This setup allows for a closer examination of the pond and its surroundings.
Developing an alternative ethnographic study to observe and understand my community and their
adaptability to living in a specific habitat as a working caste is my objective. I aim to explore how
such adaptability contributes to their bodily evolution. This particular installation serves as an
attempt to engage in dialogue and comprehend the evolving bodies of pond users

The mitti house serves as a lens focusing on a particular landscape, activity, and social dynamic. The
pond, which serves as a resource, an open space, a receptacle for garbage, and a container for
infection and chemicals. Specific groups of people are bound to rely on this space, and over time,
individuals have adapted to such environments, with such adaptations contributing to their bodily
evolution

The structure itself, made from bamboo and clay, serves as a lure, inviting pond users to engage in conversation. Its existence prompts discussions on the idea of living adjacent to a pond, eliciting various opinions, stories, and suggestions regarding the role of the pond as a contributing factor in bodily evolution.
